Celeb Twitter accounts hacked to display Ron Paul support

Nicole Scherzinger's Twitter account was hacked to show a message of support for Ron Paul.

Kelly Clarkson and Michelle Branch may have unofficially endorsed Ron Paul, but Nicole Scherzinger, No Doubt and Rise Against? Not exactly supporters, as recent tweets from the musical artists may lead people to believe.

Mitt Romney Meets Expectations With New Hampshire Win, Ron Paul Takes Second Place

Early Wednesday morning, very similarly-phrased Ron Paul endorsements popped up on the official Twitter accounts of Nicole Scherzinger, No Doubt and Rise Against. The tweets, which were deleted by each artist after several hours, have been confirmed to Billboard.com as hacks.

It's worth noting that all three artists are currently signed to Interscope Records, a curious coincidence that may explain why they're linked in this specific hacking.

Kelly Clarkson's 'Ron Paul Sales Bump' Debunked: 'Stronger' Sales Actually Dropped Last Week

Punk rockers Rise Against have a track record of liberal political activism, assuring their fans after the fact, "As you would all assume, We DO NOT support Ron Paul." No Doubt's response: "No political endorsements at this time."

So what exactly did the tweets say?

"Today We Officially Endorse Ron Paul 2012 Donate to him here http://bit.ly/yDrrFI #ronpaulrevolution," read a tweet from No Doubt's account, followed up by: "If you actually read what Ron Paul is saying, you will discover that for the first time in your life a politician is not lying to you."

Nicole Scherzinger's hack read, "For the first time ever a politician isn't lying to us. WAKE UP AMERICA! Ron Paul 2012 I Love this Guy #RonPaulRevolution." "The X Factor" judge recently made headlines recently for delaying the release of her solo album, Killer Love, yet again. "Killer Love" was originally slated for a November release, but has been pushed to 2012.

As for the musical artists who legitimately support Paul's libertarian politics, Kelly Clarkson has come under fire for supporting the Republican presidential candidate last month via her Twitter. Despite Twitter backlash, Clarkson's sentiments were quickly co-signed by fellow pop songstress Michelle Branch.

At a recent rally in Iowa, Paul actually boasted that sales of Clarkson's recent album "Stronger" had increased by 600 percent following her unofficial endorsement of him -- a figure that is far from true.

The establishment is pulling out all the stops this year. First they try to paint Ron Paul as a racist because of newsletters he didn't write. Then they plant a fake attack ad on the web going after Huntsman. Now they are hacking Twitter accounts.

these are beyond the D list.

too be honest... i wouldn't really care if they were on the A list... most actors love liberalism... makes them feel better about the massive amounts of cash they receive

What a waste of time. Why would anyone try to make Paul look bad, unless.......hmm??

      Reply#2 - Thu Jan 12, 2012 11:39 AM EST

Yeah, right. Like his decades of publishing racist newsletters didn't do a good enough of job of that already. Obama 2012. Duh.

Ok gopSTOMPER, for the last time, Ron Paul did not write the newsletters. Come back to reality.

Yeah, no reason he should be held responsible for the content of newsletters he sent out as long as he didn't write them.

Who has to "TRY" to make him look bad, in my opinion, Ron Paul is a few nuts short of a fruit cake already!

@ Highstreet: What exactly do you mean, when you (apparently sarcastically) ask who would want to make him look bad? The story is about twitter accounts of (alleged) celebs being hacked to show support of Paul. The account owners said they don't support him. I don't get how you're jumping to, someone is trying to make Paul look bad.

It's almost like, anything said about Ron Paul that isn't siad by him or his cult....is bad. Don't be so defensive, man.

Typical Ron Paul fanboy behavior: any activity is justifiable if it serves the end purpose of aiding the all holy Messiah Paul. They've been hacking internet polls for years to make Paul look more popular than he actually is, and now resorting to hacking Twitter accounts? That is illegal. Arrest these criminals.

And why hasn't the good doctor stepped up to denounce this kind of behavior?

gopSTOMPER, see post #1.1. It's not the Ron Paul people hacking anything. It's the GOP establishment.

False Flag written all over it. Is this the best you "news people" can find when writing about Ron Paul?

You practically ignore him every chance you can, twist his message around the times you do feel it necessary to throw him a bone, and when you finally do, it's invariably something negative.

Was it journalism you studied in school, or advanced propaganda?

Oh come down off your soap box. Paul himself has said that he doesn't expect to win the nomination, he only wants to hijack the discussion and twist it his way. (Kinda a Princess Sarah complex, here eh?) You're supporting an empty suit (another yacker with no substance).

In four years, you'll be backing the more militant and aggressive Rand.

Thanks for clarifying who these "Celebs" were. Had no idea who this Nicole person was. Still not worried or care who they might support. Up to them to make whatever bad decisions they choose to.

I'm not even sure No Doubt is a band anymore... unless there is a new band called No Doubt. Is there another No Doubt? The only No Doubt I know is the one that was really big in the late 90's and died in the early 00's to give life to Gwen Stefani's solo career.

To be fair, the sales boost was specifically at Amazon. A thousand extra sales at one store was very noticable, and happened literally overnight. In the grand scheme of things, a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the music industry.

PsyOps against Ron Paul. He's the only credible threat to the status quo.

I can't imagine that a Rob Paul supporter would do this and think that it will help Ron Paul's campaign. This was either done by a really stupid supporter or someone posing as one to make Paul look bad. Either way, what supporters/celebrities do and say shouldn't affect anybody's views on the candidates... don't be sheep.

The bankster apparatchik will do whatever it can to discredit Dr. Paul and his supporters. Since Ron Paul is the first credible threat to the banking empire since their corrupt introduction in 1913, you can be assured they'll resort to all matters of dirty trick campaigns to marginalize the throngs in favor of their home-boy chrony Mitt Romney.

If I was American I would vote Ron Paul!! All these who try to make him sound like a nut case, are nut cases themselves. they are paid to go to differnet sites to talk trash about Ron. it wouldnt matter how many tiems they heard the truth its not their job to listen just to do as told. they are what we call here slaves. but then they probably dont know any better the education system has destroyed their brains.

I don't care who supports who, you are a singer, movie star, I still don't care. Who you support or vote for is your business, and it isn't news! NOT NEWS!!!!!! So let's all get on with our lives and find something useful to do, other than read this blithering bulls**t!

You clowns are so desperate to downplay her sales bump. I saw it with my own eyes. We were talking about the AMAZON bestsellers and movers lists. She was at 1900% increase at one time. The haters that say we didn't buy her albums are the same pickle brains that think Ron Paul hacked the vote to take 2nd.. EAD with gravy on it. A big one.
